Members of the research project focusing on the paintings of the Emmaus cycle—Jan Vojtěchovský, Daniela Jakubů, Kateřina Krhánková, and Petra Lesniaková—participated in a project meeting from January 28th to 30th, 2026. This gathering was hosted by colleagues from the Technical University of Cologne (TH Köln). The meeting provided a platform for intensive and productive discussions regarding the project's outputs to date.

The program also included a tour of the rare medieval wall paintings in the choir of Cologne Cathedral and a visit to the host institution’s specialized facilities. This international project, funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) and dedicated to the interdisciplinary investigation of the wall paintings in the cloister of the Emmaus Monastery in Prague, is now nearing its conclusion.

The project’s primary outputs will include recommended conservation-restoration and securing concepts for these unique Gothic paintings, as well as a research monograph in English. This monograph will summarize the new findings acquired over the course of the three-year interdisciplinary research.
