Experts from the Faculty of Restoration (FR UPCE) visited the National School of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (ENSCRBC) in Tipasa, Algeria, from 10 to 20 February 2025, with which the University of Pardubice has a Memorandum of Cooperation. The academics made their trip with the funding of the Erasmus KA171 programme, which supports cooperation with universities outside the European Union and Europe in general. In addition to expert lectures, the Czech experts also conducted practical workshops on the restoration of paper artefacts and book bindings, or the conservation of mosaics mounted on concrete panels. The workshop was also visited by the Algerian Minister of Culture Zouhir Ballalou, who expressed his interest in the work of the Litomyšl teachers and expressed his support in the preparation of joint restoration projects of ENSCRBC and FR UPCE. The projects should concern the restoration of ancient monuments, more specifically stone sculptures and wall paintings, which Tipasa, as one of the most important ancient archaeological sites in Algeria, abounds with.
