Description:
The aim of this project is examination of the influence of synthetic dyes on leather and evaluation of their use in restoration. The synthetic dyes are included in all commercially available products for leather dying which are used by practice restorers. Unfortunately, the effect of commercial products based on synthetic dyes on leather stability has not yet been systematically tested. But it is necessary to know how chemical and physical properties of leather are changed by these products. The samples of vegetable tanned leather will be dyed by chosen synthetic dyes products and then exposed to conditions of dry artificial aging. The results of the project will significantly contribute to the practical restorers for working with dyed new leather.
