The project is going to deal with the identification and description of original and period book bindings from the Benedictine library in Broumov, which contains book bindings from the Gothic to 19th century. After detailed research and description of individual works are carried out, it will focus primarily on the use of metal materials for the production of book metal furnishings. With reference to the material essence of metal furnishings (XFR analysis results) on books from the Broumov library, the results of their restoration will be summarized. The student is going to deal with the verification of the selected cleaning methods on model samples (historic objects/metal furnishings). Furthermore, effectivity of the selected cleaning methods will be monitored as well as to what extent the chosen method will be destructive/non-destructive.
