Provider: Univerzita Pardubice
Programme: Studentská grantová soutěž
Implementation period: 01.01.19 - 31.12.19
Workplace: Fakulta restaurování - FR
Investigator: Říhová Vladislava
Description:
The project deals with sorting out the inheritance of the restorer Jiří Josefík (1920-2006). The documents include above all letters, photographs and restoration documentation. The Faculty of Restoration acquired them from Josefík?s daughter Tereza. Jiří Josefík was a prominent restorer of wall paintings and panel paintings. His most active years span over the second half of the 20th century when he was mainly working for the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, but he also represented Czechoslovakia as a member of the ICCROM organisation. He wrote theoretical texts on restoration and at the same time, he was an active member of the R64 group of restorers. From the 50s to the end of his life, he restored a wide range of artworks from the collections of galleries as well as works of art in situ. It will be necessary to sort out and label all the material before it can become part of the FR archives and so that it can be further used for research purposes. Within the project, an inventory of the documents will be worked out. Subsequently, a paper focusing on the restoration works of Jiří Josefík is going to be written and the sorted-out material presented at an exhibition organised by the Museum of Česká Třebová (2020).
