Provider: Univerzita Pardubice
Programme: Studentská grantová soutěž
Implementation period: 01.02.22 - 31.12.22
Workplace:
Fakulta restaurování - FR
Investigator: Lesniaková Petra
Description:
Removal of undesired materials from the surface of an artifacts is the most important and delicate operation in the conservation of cultural heritage. In this context, rigid gels represent very promising solution for artworks highly sensitive to liquid cleaning. These gels offer many advantages over other methods of applications including complete removability, high controllability, selectivity and safety both to the artifact and human health. The project focuses on selection, characterization, preparation and systematic testing, of several types of rigid gels. The main aim of this work is to implement gels with suitable properties into restoration practice. In particular, rigid gels prepared from gellan gum and ready for use synthetic rigid gels of Nanorestore brand will be subjected to investigation.
