Provider: Univerzita Pardubice
Programme: Studentská grantová soutěž
Implementation period: 01.01.23 - 31.12.23
Workplace: Fakulta restaurování - FR
Investigator: Lesniaková Petra
Description:
Removing of undesired materials from the surfaces of artworks is the most important and delicate operation in the conservation of cultural heritage. Restoration of paintings often includes removal of degraded varnishes or organic/polymer coatings from the past conservation treatments. Removal of these layers usually involves the use of organic solvents and blends which can be risky for the human health. For the stated reasons and due to the outlined issues, the project will be focused on the sensitive possibilities of removal of polymer/organic coatings from paintings. In this context the main aim of the project is to test and to asses new cleaning microemulsion systems and application methods based on gels, especially rigid gels.
