Description:
The goal of the project is the study the technique of artificial marble appearing for the first time in our territory in the second half of the 16th century. The range of theoretical topics will focus on capturing the historical development of technology, clarifying questions of their origin and transmission within Central Europe. Another range of topics will consist of collecting and verifying information about the oldest examples of its use and the activity of some workshops in the second half of the 17th and 18th centuries in our territory. The research will be supplemented by direct knowledge from visual or restoration research of selected monuments in situ supplemented by chemical-technological surveys that will help identify the materials used. in situ supplemented by chemical-technological surveys that will help identify the materials used.
