Description:
Two significant early modern monuments were discovered in the collections of Czech institutions in 2023 - a Mannerist drawing of the altar design of the Archangel Michael in 1583 and a late Baroque set of scenes with the legend of St. Jan Nepomucký. Both monuments give the opportunity of deeper historical-artistic classification, restoration research and model restoration. The essence of the project solution is interdisciplinary research dedicated to these works and model restoration. The monuments will be professionally inspected for the first time because they were completely unknown until now. Mannerist drawing are most likely originated in the Munich area at the end of the 16th century. The information obtained will be used for an exhibition which has been planned in September 2024 and at the same time an article will be published in a foreign professional periodical. A unique set of figures representing the procession of the clergy and the legend of St. Jan Nepomucký will be researched. The selected scenes will be model-restored and the interdisciplinary study will be published in a Czech peer-reviewed journal.
