Description:
The identification of synthetic polymers in collections is crucial for their preservation, as different polymers have varying storage requirements and may be harmful to each other. Although FTIR spectroscopy is a reliable method, it remains inaccessible to most institutions. This project focuses on analyzing a specific collection of synthetic polymers to determine cases where polymers can be reliably identified without laboratory analysis and to evaluate the optimal combination of available methods. The proposed approaches will be applicable also in institutions without access to laboratory equipment
