Description:
The project Materiality of Cultural Heritage II – Interdisciplinary Research of St. George's Chapel at Český Krumlov Castle includes research into stucco marble decoration and the organization of a workshop for students. The workshop will lead to the extension of knowledge about the technique of stucco marble and its authors. The topic of artificial marble represents a current direction of research in art history and conservation/restoration practice. The Krumlov chapel is a Czech and Austrian topic, because the author of the decorations is the Viennese marble worker Mathias Andrea. The aim of the project is to follow up on the project Materiality of Cultural Heritage – Interdisciplinary Research of Baroque Grottos and to continue the cooperation between the Faculty of Restoration and the Institute for Restoration and Conservation.
