As part of the three-year international project "Concept for the preventive conservation, securing and preservation of the cycle of wall paintings in the cloister of the Emmaus Monastery in Prague", funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Foundation for the Environment), we are organizing a colloquium at the end of May 2025, during which we will not only present the results of our research, but also include a discussion on the future approach to the protection, presentation and possible restoration of this monument. The language of the colloquium will be English.
The three-day colloquium will take place from May 22 to May 24, 2025, hosted at the historic Emmaus Monastery in Prague and will include:
• Day 1: Presentation of the mural paintings and the project investigations and results.
• Day 2: International experts share their insights, followed by a panel discussion.
• Day 3: Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy an excursion to wall painting sites in Prague.
The research project and event are carried out by partners from the Cologne Institute of Conservation Sciences (TH Köln), the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, and the University of Pardubice, Faculty of Restoration in Litomyšl, Czech Republic.
We warmly invite you to join us at the colloquium, which will unite various experts to explore the medieval wall painting cycle and engage in discussions on preservation and presentation challenges.
More details regarding registration and the detailed programme will be announced soon. In the meantime, please save the date.
We look forward to seeing you in Prague!
