The project Conservation Practice between Tradition and the Present I – Historical and Contemporary Varnishes of Easel Paintings focuses on historical and contemporary approaches to the application of protective surface layers on easel paintings on textile supports within the Czech-Austrian context. The main activity will be a three-day international workshop in Vienna combining lectures in chemical technology and conservation with practical testing of varnish preparation and application. The project will foster the exchange of expertise between the Czech and Austrian institutions and strengthen long-term cooperation in teaching and research.
