The Department of Humanities regularly participates in interdisciplinary research on monuments, scientific research projects in cooperation with other departments of the Faculty or other institutions and manages the interdisciplinary journal e-Monumentica focused on monuments and heritage care. The research is mainly directed towards the areas of "technical art history" and the history of conservation. This research enables a detailed understanding of the entire process of the creation of a work of art, the production and origin of materials and the transfer of technological knowledge. Basic research leads to a deeper knowledge of the various circumstances of the creation of specific works of art and of contemporary artistic practice, and thus to a comprehensive understanding of the material nature of the artwork. This is essential for the application of knowledge in current restoration/conservation practice and heritage care.
