In the second year of the follow-up Master's degree, students are mainly engaged in their thesis. Although the final thesis always includes a demanding and complex restoration intervention, its focus is more on theoretical research, however, directly related to the respective restoration intervention. The student is given the task of dealing with issues that often cannot be addressed in practice due to lack of time or funding. Often, however, this is essential information needed to establish the correct restoration procedure. Interdisciplinary communication is an essential part of their workflow. Students are thus directly involved in the development of knowledge in this still relatively young field, often in collaboration with leading experts from related fields.
